IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Optegra
Targets China Market
14 May 2007 -
GLOBAL Soft (MSC) Bhd expects revenue
contribution from its China operations to grow to 50 per cent, from
35-40 per cent last year, as it secures more jobs there.
The company recently won three projects
with a combined contract value of 2.3 million renminb or RM1
million.
"These wins reflect the efforts that we
have invested in since venturing into China two and a half years
ago. These companies are big names in China's leisure and
entertainment industry, and we are proud to provide our expertise in
ticketing solutions," Global Soft executive chairman Datuk Low Kok
Thai said.
The three projects are from Guangzhou
Chime Long Group, Beijing OCT group and Suzhou Science and Art
centre.
Low said the company was now committed to
invest in research and development to come up with new products and
increase manpower.
He was speaking at the signing ceremony of
an exclusive distributorship agreement between Global Soft and
mobile solutions provider Optegra Sdn Bhd yesterday.
Global Soft will be the sole distributor
of Optegra's mobile ticketing solution, MobiTicket, using 2D-barcode
technology in China. The technology addresses the problem of
authenticity in mobile ticketing.
Optegra chief executive officer Luke Long
said they were targeting the Beijing Olympics and Hong Kong
Disneyland as potential opportunities for MobiTicket.
China has the world's largest
communication market. As end of 2006, China had 461 million mobile
customers. It is expected to hit 520 million by 2008.
